  5. Built-in speaker: 2x (5-Watt) Subwoofers

At the top, I’ve got a gaming monitor recommendation that will literally blow your mind – the BenQ MOBIUZ EX2780Q!

Many of you may be wondering why I rated this one at the top. The reason is that it has decent speakers and a great display.

BenQ MOBIUZ EX2780Q is a sleek, bezel-less monitor that exudes premium style. Its wide 27-inch screen and impressive 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, gaming, and content visuals are absolutely flawless.

I know 4K displays are great, but trust me, this resolution is nothing to scoff at. You’ll be treated to awe-inspiring visuals and lightning-fast performance, thanks to features like Black eQualizer and HDRi technology. – it’s the smart choice for gamers, no doubt about it.

Moreover, the display has a 144 Hz refresh rate and a 5 ms response time, and VESA certification ensures you get top-notch visuals like the most expensive ones out there. Can you believe it?

And let me tell you about the built-in speakers – it’s nothing quite great about them, nothing to overhype, but they still sound better than most others. The 5-watt subwoofer does its job nicely.

Connectivity-wise, this monitor has got you covered with HDMI 2.0 inputs, DisplayPort 1.4, a USB-C port, and a headphone jack. I wish there were more ports, but there aren’t. Still, A seamless multimedia experience is guaranteed!

So, level up your gaming and make your friends jealous of your screen swagger with the BenQ MOBIUZ EX2780Q.

Pros

  1. High refresh rate.
  2. Bright 27-inch QHD panel.
  3. Genuine colors
  4. Input latency is really minimal.
  5. Fine built-in speaker.

Cons

  1. Ports are hard to reach.
  2. Minimal port selection

Asus ROG Swift PG279QM — The Editor’s Choice

Editor's choice on top gaming monitor with speakers - ASUS ROG Swift 27” 1440P Gaming Monitor

Specifications

  1. Max. Resolution: 2560 x 1440 pixels
  2. Display Size: 27-inch
  3. Refresh Rate: 240 Hz
  4. Response Time: 1 ms
  5. Built-in speaker: Two 2w speakers

The next gaming monitor on our list comes from Asus, a well-known brand, and it actually outperforms some of our top picks in some factors.

Firstly, the Asus ROG Swift monitor is a 27-inch 2K monitor that achieves a refresh rate of 240 Hz. I know for many people, it’s overkill, yet I think gamers need it. Who doesn’t want to become an extra pro at every game?

Not just a high refresh rate, but also quite responsive. Also, on this monitor, you’re getting a 1 ms response rate. Those who have spent time on a 5 ms response rate will feel a good difference here.

Similarly, If I may say something about the glow of its IPS panel, I would definitely say it’s the best. I would have it on my other recommendation list if I could. Also, the dark shades and picture quality are unexpectedly excellent.

All those Freesync, G-sync, Nividia Reflex, and Eye Care features are available, which is good for PC gamers.

Furthermore, design-wise, ASUS PG279QM is very similar to other ROG gaming monitors. It has all the RGBs and lights that add a gaming feel to your setup. Also, it’s a little bit thick at the back, and if you ask me, I am not much of a fan of it. I like a more slim and decent design.

And yeah, the speaker—how can I forget? Believe me, it was trash. The built-in speakers were annoying and had a sad sound quality for music. They should have done something better for the speaker, but no! You get dual 2-watt speakers that have nothing extraordinary.

So, if speakers aren’t your problem that much, then I would definitely vouch for this gaming monitor. It’s a true all-round gaming monitor

Pros

  1. High refresh rate.
  2. Quick response time.
  3. Bezel-less and premium look.
  4. Convenient built-in speakers.
  5. FreeSync Compatible G-Sync Monitor

Cons

  1. Pricey.
  2. Low Contrast

GIGABYTE G27Q – Best Budget Pick

GIGABYTE G27Q 27

Specifications

  1. Max. Resolution: 2560 x 1440 pixels
  2. Display Size: 27-inch
  3. Refresh Rate: 144 Hz
  4. Response Time: 1 ms
  5. Built-in speaker: Two 2w speakers

The next monitor that we have on our list is from Gigabyte. I know gamers will recognize this name because Gigabyte is very famous for its motherboards, graphics cards, and other products.

So today, let’s talk about the gigabyte G27Q 27 monitor. This is also popular among low-budget gamers, featuring a 27′′ IPS panel with 1440p resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, all at an affordable price point.

Specs-wise, It has QHD resolution and an IPS panel, which makes the visuals sharp and vibrant. Its 27 inches wide display makes a great combination between screen size and resolution.

Not just that, the refresh rate is also quite great; it’s a 144 Hz panel that has a 1 ms response time. Talk about a dynamic duo! These features are crucial for fast-paced, competitive gaming, ensuring smooth gameplay and no motion blur.

Along with that, you get a FreeSync feature and a not-very-good HDR feature. Also, there are two HDMI 2.0 ports, one Display Port, and two USB 3.0 ports. So yeah, plenty of ports.

Look-wise, it’s keeping it sleek and minimal, letting the stunning visuals do the talking. Sometimes simplicity is key, and this monitor knows how to rock its elegance. But, still, I think the company should work on its overall design.

Lastly, the speakers—of course, I might say again, it’s nothing special, but as you’re not paying too much, I can say it’s just okay! Nothing special, but okay. The dual 2W speakers aren’t good for music, but for regular notifications and YouTube, they’re fine.

Overall, the GIGABYTE G27Q monitor is a valuable choice for work and play. The features are good, and the price is also reasonable.

Pros

  1. High Refresh Rate
  2. Sharp Visuals
  3. Versatile Connectivity
  4. Responsive Gaming
  5. Built-in Speakers

Cons

  1. HDR Performance isn’t good
  2. No Local Dimming

ASUS TUF VG27AQ

ASUS TUF Gaming 27

Specifications

  1. Max. Resolution: 2560 x 1440 pixels
  2. Display Size: 27-inch
  3. Refresh Rate: 165 Hz
  4. Response Time: 1 ms
  5. Built-in speaker: Two 2w speakers

The next monitor is again from Asus, and I feel the ASUS TUF VG27AQ has left such a lasting impression on me!

First things first, let’s talk about that dashing appearance. It’s an attention-grabber for sure, with thin bezels, a decent look, and a slim design. And when it comes to visuals, that 27-inch display and WQHD resolution take things to a whole new level of stunning immersion.

The display is an IPS panel, but the visual appearance isn’t quite appealing. Also, I feel like the viewing angles were not good. I’m trying to say that it was overall good, but not as good as my other IPS panels. So, Asus needs to fix that.

Other than that, the 165 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms response time were superb for me during my gameplay. Definitely, a 165 Hz refresh rate will work better than the 120 Hz and 144 Hz display panels. So, I feel like I’ve got a competitive edge in the fast-paced action!

The next feature that made me feel something different while gaming on this monitor was the Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB) feature. I can say it helped me like a magic spell during my gameplay. Also, G-SYNC works fine but does create some issues sometimes.

Connectivity options are also many, making it easy to hook up your gaming console, PC, or other multimedia devices. I almost feel as if the ASUS TUF VG27AQ was saying, “Come to Papa!”

And let’s not forget about those dual built-in stereo speakers. I wouldn’t say they’re as good as my other monitors on the list, but they deliver audio output for everyday use.

Overall, the ASUS TUF VG27AQ is more like a rock-solid choice for gamers and multimedia enthusiasts alike. It can be a great choice if you can compromise on speakers and a little bit on viewing angles.

Pros

  1. WQHD display
  2. A good amount of features
  3. 165 Hz refresh rate
  4. Good response time
  5. Compatible with every device

Cons

  1. Viewing Angles
  2. Poor HDR performance

SAMSUNG S80A

SAMSUNG S80A

Specifications

  1. Max. Resolution: 2560 x 1440 pixels
  2. Display Size: 27-inch
  3. Refresh Rate: 60 Hz
  4. Response Time: 5 ms
  5. Built-in speaker: Two 2w speakers

Just like every time, without a Samsung monitor, my list just feels incomplete. Along with my readers, I also await a Samsung monitor.

So here it is, The Samsung S80A, a decent monitor that is made for professional content creation, but you can also use it for gaming.

Starting off, we have a 27-inch display with 4K UHD resolution, which gives sharp image quality. Next, it’s a slim and modern-looking monitor with thin bezels and an adjustable stand.

The overall brightness (300 nits) and color accuracy never fail to impress. You might say it’s because of the 4K resolution, but no, it’s due to Quantum Dot technology, which assures a wide color gamut and accurate color reproduction, delivering stunning, realistic colors.

Next, I have to say that I was a little bit curious about its fluidity and responsiveness. Unfortunately, it has a low refresh rate of 60 Hz. I know you might argue, but you’ll get 60 Hz on a 4K panel. So think about it.

On the other hand, it had a 5 ms response rate, which sounds like a fair deal for gaming. Also, I found the S80A to be a perfect match for my consoles. I tested a PS5 on it, and everything was quite good.

Further features include HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.2, 4 USB (USB C, USB A), and 3.5mm audio out. This type of Connectivity is nice for gamers and multimedia creators.

Lastly, it’s Indeed important to mention the speakers; it has two built-in speakers of 2W. Nothing quite special, I would say it was a little bit better than others; you can use it for regular YouTube videos, but not for music or gaming.

So, the Samsung S80A is a monitor that not only wows with its sleek design and impressive specs. Make sure to have a look at that.

Pros

  1. Stunning visuals with UHD display
  2. HDR support
  3. Wide viewing angles
  4. Sleek design
  5. Broad connectivity

Cons

  1. No adaptive sync
  2. Low refresh rate

LG Smart Monitor (32SQ780S)

G (32SQ780S) - 32-Inch 4K UHD

Specifications

  1. Max. Resolution: 3840 x 2160 pixels
  2. Display Size: 32-inch
  3. Refresh Rate: 65 Hz
  4. Response Time: 5 ms
  5. Built-in speaker: 2x 5W speakers

After Samsung, we have LG, and The LG 32SQ780S is not just a monitor; it’s a smart monitor! With its dazzling 32-inch 4K UHD display and WebOS capabilities, it’s more like a TV and a monitor in one.

I remember I saw a Spiderman No Way Home on it. The colors, the details – everything pops off the screen, creating a truly immersive viewing experience. There was a moment when I thought Spiderman would jump out of the screen.

From the deepest blacks to the brightest whites, the monitor’s contrast ratio adds depth and dimension to every scene, making it feel like I’m right there in the midst of the action.

The 65 Hz refresh rate is one of its downsides, but again, a 5 ms response time is going to hit the mark. I’ve played Ghost of Tsushima, and the gameplay was absolutely stunning.

But it doesn’t stop there—this monitor is a true multitasker. No matter what I’m doing, whether I’m gaming on my console, working on my PC, or casting content from my smartphone, the LG 32SQ780S handles it all with ease.

All thanks to impressive connectivity options, including two HDMI 2.0, one USB-C PD65W for charging and data transfer, three USB 2.0, and one RJ45 for wired internet, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi for wireless connectivity, as well as a 3.5mm audio jack.

Other than that, it has webOS, which is sometimes necessary to watch Netflix, YouTube, and other streaming sites. Another feature is AI ThinQ technology. Don’t even get me started on that – it’s like having a personal entertainment genie! It analyzes your habits and suggests shows and movies tailored just for you.

Finally, it has a dual 5-watt stereo speaker to provide somewhat better entertainment. As it has a 5-watt speaker system, I felt an improvement over my other recommendations.

Overall, the LG monitor is a suitable option if you’re gaming, streaming, or simply enjoying your favorite content.

Pros

  1. Smart TV Features
  2. Attractive and Functional Design
  3. User-friendly interface
  4. Convenient remote control
  5. Impressive visuals

Cons

  1. Limited app selection on webOS
  2. No Display port

  1. Max. Resolution: 2560 x 1440 pixels
  2. Display Size: 27-inch

Acer products are top-notch, and the Nitro XV272U gaming monitor is no exception. It’s no surprise that Acer often emerges as the ultimate choice, offering powerful products at affordable prices that won’t break the bank.

The Acer Nitro XV272U is a gaming monitor that comes with a 27-inch IPS panel and QHD resolution, delivering sharp and vibrant visuals that can increase the gaming experience by 2X.

First of all, it is an LCD monitor, but there’s no doubt that its performance is better than some LEDs. Look-wise it has a fairly thin bezel, which is one of my first preferences.

During my inspection, I also did notice a little backlight bleed. I don’t know if it’s just for me or if it’s for everybody else. On the internet, I also read some reviews about the backlight bleed, and some people have it.

Now you’ll be wondering why I’ve said this. It’s because, true to its name, the Acer Nitro XV272U delivers a performance that’s as fast as nitro. With a 1440p resolution, the monitor’s exceptional color accuracy, wide gamut coverage, and HDR support bring visuals to stunning levels with a high contrast ratio.

Also, Acer features a 170 Hz refresh rate panel along with a very rare 0.5 ms response time at a budget-friendly price. Can you believe it?

Furthermore, to increase eagerness for PCs, there are features like AMD FreeSync Premium, HDR, and many more. Although I had issues with the stand, it was a little bit confusing, but I somehow managed it.

This monitor with two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DisplayPort 1.2 port, and a USB-C port, the Acer Nitro XV272U Monitor, offers seamless connectivity. It also comes with integrated dual speakers of 2W and a USB hub. Plus, you can connect wirelessly to your devices via Bluetooth.

To sum it up, The Acer Nitro XV272U Monitor is also a reliable choice for gamers and designers alike, offering a seamless display, impressive graphics, and a user-friendly design.

Its exceptional value for money makes it a highly recommended option, providing an unparalleled gaming and working experience.

  3. High Refresh rate
  4. Good number of ports
  5. Built-in speaker

Cons

  1. Back-light bleeding

How I Chose These Monitors?

Well, when it comes to choosing and recommending any product, my basic formula is to buy it, use it for a few weeks, and then make a decision whether I should suggest it to my readers or not.

For these monitors, I didn’t have to struggle hard, as I’m already a gamer. I’ve been playing games for many years, so analyzing and testing different gaming monitors was pretty easy for me this time.

I just researched a couple of monitors, checked their specs, bought them, and tested them through some of these factors:

  1. Display Size: I know for many people, screen size matters a lot, but here I’ve preferred only those monitors that could be helpful for gaming. For example, If you check the list, you’ll mostly notice that I prefer monitors with either 24, 27, or 32 inches. Above that, will seriously affect your gaming skills.
  1. Display Resolution and Quality: Now, the display quality lies after the screen size; most of the time, HD resolution looks good for 21 inches, but above that, it doesn’t. Similarly, for 27 inches, QHD resolution seems suitable. Lastly, for 4K, I have suggested a 32-inch monitor.
  1. Speakers: I know built-in speakers can never be good for music or gaming, but still, there are some options that sound a little bit better than normal. Therefore, I’ve chosen those.
  1. Build Quality: Build quality and overall design add beauty to your gaming setup. I know you don’t want a thick bezel or a cheaply made plastic product for your desk. Nowadays, there are options that can look really, really attractive but aren’t very costly. So why not?
  1. Features: For PC gamers, AMD-sync, Nividia Reflex, Eye care, high refresh rate, and amazing responsiveness are very necessary. It provides a competitive advantage because there is no motion blur or screen tearing while gaming.
  1. Prices and availability: Lastly, the price, of course. I know many of you can’t spend $1,000 on just a monitor. So, I’ve tried to combine only those monitors that come within a fine budget. Not very cheap or expensive.

FAQ

Are Built-in Speakers With Gaming Monitors Good?

No, Built-in speakers in monitors aren’t that great for gaming.
They are suitable for notification sounds, Zoom calls, and watching YouTube videos. Other than these, built-in speakers aren’t good enough.
Therefore, for online gaming, it’s better to have external speakers who provide a more immersive and realistic gaming experience.

You know you have to make a decision when you hear nearby footsteps during an online game.

Can I Use External Speakers Instead Of Built-in Speakers?

Yes, you can use external speakers instead of built-in speakers.
Most monitors have output ports, such as a 3.5mm headphone jack or HDMI/DisplayPort with audio support, that allow you to connect external speakers or a sound system. You can enjoy a much better quality of sound with external speakers.
Nowadays, this feature has become very common among monitors, so you no longer need to worry about ports.

What Is the Audio Quality of the Built-in Speakers Compared to External Ones?

The audio quality of the built-in speakers is never good. They are just there for your very basic tasks, which may be YouTube videos, notification sounds, or some other task like that.
Built-in speakers are generally smaller and may lack the depth and clarity of sound that external speakers can offer.
However, External speakers generally offer great bass, clearer vocals, and overall better sound quality, making them ideal for music, gaming, and movie enthusiasts.

Verdict

Few years back I started to work from home, I needed a keyboard, I researched mechanical keyboard from A to Z. After that I needed a monitor, after that I needed a mouse, after that I needed desk, chair and other accessories. I did so much research and I figured this can't all go to waste and I started writing about what I know. Keyboards, Monitors, Mouses and other accessories.
